Erin
My name is Erin. Growing up in a non-affirming, evangelical environment, I felt isolated, alone, and had internalized homophobia.
Later in my life I took a huge risk by resigning from a career to go back to school and pursue a degree in Biblical Studies. My first Bible professor was affirming and we developed a great academic relationship. He was the first clergy person in my entire life to affirm me as a Queer woman and biblical scholar. My entire life changed in that moment.
Pronouns: they/them
I went from a past of brokenness and abusing alcohol and drugs to spearheading change for spiritually abused LGBTQ folks. I poured out blood, sweat, and tears on Christian University campuses as an activist for Queer and Trans folks who were denied basic human rights every single day.
I now have a BA in Biblical Studies and am currently in my third year of Seminary to obtain my MDiv. I co-lead a non profit called BraveCommons, where we work to assist Queer and Trans students at Christian colleges by helping them organize against harmful policies.
I embrace my belovedness because all it took was one person to affirm me. This started a wildfire of acceptance. One person could change someone else’s whole trajectory in life. I encourage you to be that one person who loves, who affirms, and demonstrates compassion for all. It will change and save lives.
