Faith has played a huge role in my life. I was raised Christian and have always gone to church.
It wasn't until I got older and started learning about new ways of thinking online that I realized just how problematic the things were that I was taught in my conservative evangelical churches. I then started to relearn what being a Christian actually means to me.

Being queer definitely affected my relationship with faith and Christianity. I used to feel like I had to suppress my sexuality because of being a Christian. But now that I am more comfortable with myself, being queer has actually brought me closer to God. This is in part because of my reexamination of scripture and who God is to me.
A dream I have for other queer youth is that they can find safe spaces like Beloved Arise where they can grow in their faith while also being themselves. I would love for there to someday be queer Christian summer camps and conferences just like there are for straight and cis kids.
