Jordan

I was watching Glee when I first heard the words gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender. When I saw the character Santana, I connected to her.

Although I grew up Baptist, I also had extremely Catholic grandparents, I serially dated boys, and I had a huge secret: I liked girls and boys.

Pronouns: she/her

Growing up in a Christian family and being very active in my youth group, I was nervous about them being able to accept me. I also was scared that God wasn’t going to love me anymore. Friends told me that I was going to hell. But my pastor came up to me at my fall retreat after having spoken to my mom and told me that I was loved, chosen, and cherished by God.

Since then, I have been able to truly love myself and know that God does love me. My youth group continues to love me and has supported me every step of my bisexual way.

I am currently in college majoring in social work and planning to minor in religion and theology because I love God and God loves me. It is possible to be both gay and Christian. It’s not crazy. It’s beautiful.
