Jamison
Hi, my name is Jamison Conner, I am 22 years old, and I am a gay Christian.
When I was saved by Christ when I was 14 and in that same year, I also decided to come out. I heard God say to live my authentic life to stop living a lie.
Pronouns: he/him
This happened at a church camp, yet I still had trouble trusting people with my sexuality. I had to accept it for myself first and God helped me through that. I lived in a very fundamental Baptist Christian area of Missouri. And I would hear things in the church against people of my sexual minority say things like ‘gays deserve to die and go to hell.’
This hurt a lot, and this made me feel unsafe around others, but God comforted me and told me on my coming out journey that I will be okay. Today, I still have strangers in Missouri say hateful things to me, but I never let it get under my skin as I used to when I first came out.
Now, I am getting ready to graduate from college, with a degree in Psychology. I plan to move forward with my education in graduate school to obtain my master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
And I hope to advocate for all the LGBT+ individuals that walk into the counseling room!
